Harry Potter fans across the district will recognize similarities between the new character-building program at North Ridge Elementary and the point garnering competition from the popular wizarding book series.
In North Ridge’s new program, students and teachers take a personality test and then are sorted into four “houses” with other students and staff that have similar test results. The four houses- Foster, Hurlwood, Carlisle and Wolfforth- are named after the four farming communities that originally came together to form Frenship ISD.
Students will have the opportunity to earn points for their houses by getting to school on time and exhibiting positive character traits that will be highlighted each week.
“What excites me the most is the friendly competition and taking a large Elementary School and creating small teams where kids contribute daily to their House points,” said North Ridge Principal Shannon Morrison. “We hope to achieve higher attendance, less tardies, positive character traits and camaraderie through teamwork, competition, and fun!”
