Frenship is proud to congratulate two dedicated leaders on their new roles. Cassandra Slayton has been named Executive Director of Secondary Education, and Michelle Elliott will serve as Executive Director of Elementary Education. Both bring decades of experience, a deep commitment to students and staff, and a clear vision for supporting Frenship campuses.
Slayton enters her 27th year in education, with 19 of those years at Frenship. Throughout her career in the district, she has served as a Frenship High School Algebra teacher, Terra Vista Middle School Master Teacher, District Math Coordinator, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Executive Director of Leadership Development, and now, Executive Director of Secondary Education.
In this new role, Slayton will provide clarity, support, and oversight to Frenship's seven secondary schools, including all middle schools, high schools, and Reese Education Center.
“As the Executive Director of Secondary Education, my goal is to support principals and campuses by strengthening both instructional systems and day-to-day operations,” said Slayton. “I am committed to consistency, reliability, and teamwork, giving leaders confidence that I will stand alongside them. By building strong relationships, removing obstacles, and problem-solving together, we can ensure the very best experience for our students, families, and staff.”
Slayton shared that she is most eager about the opportunity to collaborate closely with campus leaders.
“What I look forward to most in this new role is the opportunity to partner closely with principals, listen and learn from their experiences, and work side by side to create solutions that truly make a difference,” said Slayton. “I am eager to celebrate the strengths already in place across our campuses while also helping to refine systems that will support long-term success. Above all, I am excited to be part of a team that is deeply committed to student growth and to providing an environment where students, staff, and families feel supported, valued, and successful.”
Elliott is entering her 25th year in education, with 22 of those years proudly spent at Frenship. Her career has included teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, serving as an assistant principal at Bennett and Willow Bend Elementary Schools, leading Bennett Elementary as principal for nine years, and serving as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for six years. Now, as Executive Director of Elementary Education, Elliott is eager to continue serving the Frenship community.
“I’m most excited about the opportunity to partner closely with our principals—listening, problem-solving, and celebrating alongside them,” said Eliott. “There’s something incredibly powerful about working together to tackle challenges and to consider the possibilities that affect not just our administrators and teachers, but ultimately our students.”
Overall, Elliott is eager to celebrate and uplift the work of principals across the district's nine elementary campuses.
“More than anything, I look forward to shining a light on the incredible work our principals do every day. Their impact reaches far beyond the walls of their campuses—it touches families, strengthens the Frenship community, and shapes the future. I want to advocate for their needs, be their biggest cheerleader, and a steady source of support as they continue to lead with heart and purpose,” said Eliott.
Frenship ISD is proud to welcome Cassandra Slayton and Michelle Elliott into their new roles. Their extensive experience, passion for education, and dedication to supporting campus leaders will continue to strengthen the district’s mission of putting students first and fostering a community of excellence.
Congratulations, Slayton and Elliott!
