North Ridge Pre-K teacher Jana Brown was nominated for this week’s KAMC and Carpet Tech Celebrating Teachers Sweepstakes. Brown is a Frenship alumni and has been teaching at Frenship for 17 years.   

Brown says that Frenship has always been home for her. “I’ve been at Frenship my entire life, " said Brown. She was inspired to pursue a teaching career through previous teachers who left an impact on her. “I had great junior high teachers, and I still keep in touch with them.” 

Building a meaningful connection with students is something Brown strives to do with her students. “When students come into the room and they are smiling, you know that they are either excited to be there or trust you. If you can’t build that trustworthiness with a student, you’re not going to have success in academics.”   

Brown was awarded a gift certificate for a whole house floor cleaning up to a retail value of $4,000, courtesy of Carpet Tech.
