Lubbock bookstore 2nd and Charles holds a book drive every summer, where they partner with a local school to stock their library with gently used and new books. This year, 2nd and Charles reached out to Frenship media specialist Bridget Turner to make North Ridge Elementary the recipient of the summer book drive.
In the end, they were able to donate over 400 books to North Ridge, totaling over $3,300 in value. All the books were donated by 2nd and Charles customers over the summer months.
Once the books arrived at the North Ridge Library, Turner invited the teachers to stop by and grab an armful to stock their classroom shelves. Turner also stated that she uses the donated books to reward positive behavior with her students.
As a reward for classroom “Top Tigers,” students are allowed to pick out a book from the 2nd and Charles donation to take home.
“This was such a neat community event.” said Turner. “I had friends and parents tell me they donated their used books to 2nd and Charles for North Ridge.”
