North Ridge Elementary Adds Little Free Library

With the Little Free Library, community members are encouraged to pick a book and take it home or leave books for others.

North Ridge Community in Schools representative Veronica Torrez played an intricate role in getting the Little Free Library put in at North Ridge. Last year after the students expressed interest, she worked with the nonprofit and campus administration to help make their dreams come true.

North Ridge Elementary Media Specialist Bridgett Turner also helped get the ball rolling for the students and is excited to have their Free Little Library up and running.

“This story excited and inspired the students so much that they wanted to have a Little Free Library on their campus,” Turner said. “The class, led by Olivia Copeland and Ava Herrera, talked to Mrs. Sharp about what they could do to get a Little Free Library on North Ridge’s Campus.”

The girls’ teacher had them write a letter to North Ridge Principal Aimee Stroope expressing their interest in a Little Free Library.

“After being granted permission, the entire fourth grade class rallied together and through hard work and a giving heart and attitude they were able to achieve their dream of having a Little Free Library on our campus,” Turner said. “As these students graduate from elementary this year and move on to middle school, they will leave behind their labor of love in the form of our very own blue Little Free Library which is located directly in front of the office.”
