While many students enjoyed a day off, hundreds of Frenship competitors spent Monday testing their knowledge in a wide range of UIL events. The joint invitational brings together young scholars from both districts each year, providing them with an opportunity to demonstrate what they’ve learned in the classroom through friendly competition.
The contest is part of the University Interscholastic League’s (UIL) A+ Academic program, designed specifically for elementary and middle school students. Serving as an introduction to UIL competitions, the program helps students build confidence and experience that can lead to future participation at the high school level.
“Our recent UIL meet was a tremendous success! Frenship hosted the elementary contest at Ridgewood Elementary and Bennett Elementary, while Lubbock-Cooper hosted the middle school contest at Lubbock-Cooper Middle School,” said Denise Stewart, Frenship ISD Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “Our elementary and middle school students showcased their hard work, determination, and Frenship pride throughout the day. We are so proud of all their accomplishments and the teamwork that made this event run so smoothly! I appreciate all the Frenship and Cooper staff who made this event happen!”
